WORLD OF WARCRAFT: FOREVER / CLASS GUIDE
A wilderness tracker with a companion, a ranged weapon and close-combat options.
Hunter offers three distinct questions to build around: how much of your damage comes from your companion, how strongly you specialize in ranged attacks, and how much you want to fight at close quarters. The current talent snapshot includes a temporary hawk, a pet-free damage option and a developed melee toolkit. Those choices give the class more to explore than simply standing still and firing.

THREE WAYS TO BUILD YOUR CLASS
Compare the three trees and a few of their defining talents. Names, ranks, and descriptions below come from the attributed beta snapshot; the summaries are editorial guidance.
Datamined · source build 1.60.1.69876 [5]
Companion-led damage
Builds around the pet's offense, survival and control, with supporting effects for the Hunter. The temporary hawk offers another companion-related attack to compare.
Calls a temporary attacking hawk. Its shared cooldown with Arcane Shot makes it a choice to consider in the wider ability kit.
80 Mana | 35 yd range | Instant | 6 sec cooldown
Command a hawk to dive-bomb your targeted enemy, dealing 32 Physical damage and continuing its assault for 18 sec. Only 2 hawks can be active at once. Summon Hawk shares its cooldown with Arcane Shot.
Orders the pet's next successful attack to stun, gain critical-strike chance and generate high threat.
8% of base mana | 100 yd range | Instant | 1 min cooldown
Command your pet to Stun the target for 3 sec on its next successful attack, which also gains 100% increased critical strike chance. Generates high threat.
Source-reported prerequisite: Bestial Swiftness. Required rank: unknown.
Provides a temporary pet damage increase and an enraged state.
12% of base mana | 100 yd range | Instant | 2 min cooldown
Send your pet into a rage causing 50% additional damage for 18 sec. While enraged, the beast does not feel pity or remorse or fear and it cannot be stopped unless killed.
Source-reported prerequisite: Intimidation. Required rank: unknown.
Ranged weapon damage
Develops ranged shots, party ranged support and Mana recovery. It includes a deliberate choice between keeping a pet and investing in a bonus for fighting without one.
Increases attack damage while no pet is active.
You deal 20% increased damage with all attacks while you do not have an active pet.
Adds Mana regeneration during casting through Serpent Sting and Rapid Killing interactions.
Hitting a target with your Serpent Sting ability grants you 25% and consuming Rapid Killing grants you 50% of your Mana regeneration while casting for the next 15 sec.
Hitting a target with your Serpent Sting ability grants you 50% and consuming Rapid Killing grants you 100% of your Mana regeneration while casting for the next 15 sec.
Source-reported prerequisite: Rapid Killing. Required rank: unknown.
Adds a dedicated ranged shot with bonus damage.
365 Mana | 8-35 yd range | 4 sec cast | 15 sec cooldown
A steady snipe that increases ranged damage by 160.
Source-reported prerequisite: Trueshot Aura. Required rank: unknown.
Melee damage, traps and defenses
Pairs close-range attacks and bleeds with trap improvements and reactive defenses. Its current text rewards attention to marks, procs and defensive opportunities.
Temporarily increases dodge and parry chance.
Instant | 5 min cooldown
When activated, increases your Dodge and Parry chance by 25% for 10 sec.
Delivers a direct kick based on melee weapon damage.
5.81% of base mana | Melee Range | Instant | 8 sec cooldown
A powerful kick that deals 100% melee weapon damage.
Makes Mongoose Bite also inflict a bleed based on the damage it dealt.
Your Mongoose Bite also causes the target to Bleed for damage over 21 sec equal to 40% of the damage done by Mongoose Bite.
Source-reported prerequisite: Expose Prey. Required rank: unknown.

Beta talent snapshot
Beast Mastery develops both halves of the partnership. Its talents improve your pet's damage and attack speed, add a stun through Intimidation, and supply health recovery through Spirit Bond while the pet is active. Deadly Aspects also has separate effects for ranged Auto Shot with Aspect of the Hawk and melee auto attacks with Aspect of the Beast.
Marksmanship focuses on ranged attacks and their supporting effects. Barrage names Multi-Shot, Aimed Shot and Volley, while Trueshot Aura supplies ranged attack power to nearby party members. Lone Wolf rewards having no active pet. That is an optional talent direction, so a Marksmanship character does not automatically have to abandon their companion.
Survival has a substantial close-combat package. Strider Kick deals melee weapon damage, Expose Prey can activate Mongoose Bite against a marked target, and Lacerating Strikes adds a bleed to Mongoose Bite. Trap improvements and defensive talents sit beside that damage package.

| Mechanic | What the current talent text describes |
|---|---|
| Bestial Discipline | Improves pet Focus regeneration and lets part of the Hunter's Mana regeneration continue during casting. |
| Spirit Bond | Restores health periodically to both Hunter and pet while the pet is active. |
| Summon Hawk | Calls an attacking hawk temporarily, allows up to two hawks, and shares a cooldown with Arcane Shot. |
| Rapid Recuperation | Connects Mana regeneration during casting to Serpent Sting and consuming Rapid Killing. |
| Resourcefulness | Reduces trap and melee ability Mana costs. In the September 20 source, critical strikes have a 30% / 60% chance to trigger its Mana-regeneration effect. |

Clever Traps improves the duration of Freezing and Frost trap effects and the damage of Immolation and Explosive traps. Survivalist's Discipline reduces trap and Deterrence cooldowns, while Survival Tactics improves the listed hit chance of traps and Feign Death. These are different investments: stronger effects, more frequent use and improved reliability.
Deterrence temporarily increases dodge and parry. Counterattack becomes available after a parry and immobilizes its target. Reading these conditions matters when comparing talents: a reactive strike and an attack you can deliberately activate fill different jobs in a fight.

BETA / REVIEWED SEPTEMBER 23, 2026
The opening beta supports characters through level 20. Blizzard plans to raise the cap to 30 later in testing, so a full tree preview includes talents beyond the opening playable range. [7]

Browse all 50 talents and 148 rank descriptions across the three trees. Inspect talent icons and pop-up descriptions, add or remove experimental points, and save or share a plan.
The planner uses an editable point budget. Required prerequisite ranks, tier requirements, level-by-level point rules, and Legacy interactions remain unverified, so a saved plan is an experiment to revisit as the beta develops.
