WORLD OF WARCRAFT: FOREVER / CLASS GUIDE
Combine demons, lingering damage, and carefully prepared spell combinations.
Warlock suits players who enjoy managing more than a single cast bar. The current talent trees connect damage over time, demon actions, and Fire–Shadow combinations. Your own resources and your pet's condition are part of the same decision, with different trees placing the emphasis on different pieces.

THREE WAYS TO BUILD YOUR CLASS
Compare the three trees and a few of their defining talents. Names, ranks, and descriptions below come from the attributed beta snapshot; the summaries are editorial guidance.
Datamined · source build 1.60.1.69876 [4]
Ranged damage · Layered effects and drains
Affliction connects periodic damage, drains, and spell triggers. Several talents become more relevant when the target survives long enough for multiple effects to work together.
A short Shadow damage effect that also amplifies your other Shadow damage over time on the target.
200 Mana | 30 yd range | Channeled
Tears the target apart from within, dealing 36 Shadow damage every 1 sec and increasing the damage they take from your other Shadow damage over time effects by 10%. Lasts 6 sec.
Source-reported prerequisite: Siphon Life. Required rank: unknown.
Strengthens Drain Life, Drain Soul, and Wrack according to your other Affliction effects on the same target, with a stated cap.
Increases the damage done or health drained by your Drain Life, Drain Soul, and Wrack spells by 4% per each of your other Affliction effects active on the target, up to a maximum increase of 12%.
Increases the damage done or health drained by your Drain Life, Drain Soul, and Wrack spells by 8% per each of your other Affliction effects active on the target, up to a maximum increase of 24%.
Increases the damage done or health drained by your Drain Life, Drain Soul, and Wrack spells by 12% per each of your other Affliction effects active on the target, up to a maximum increase of 36%.
Damage from specified periodic or drain spells can make the next Shadow Bolt instant.
Gives your Corruption, Drain Soul, Drain Life, and Wrack spells a 2% chance to cause you to enter a Shadow Trance after damaging the opponent. The Shadow Trance reduces the casting time of your next Shadow Bolt spell by 100%.

Ranged damage · Demon support and shared survival
Demonology links the master's casting to the demon's resources, attacks, and survival. Active-pet and sacrifice effects offer different commitments, so a demon is more than a cosmetic choice.
Your spell damage heals the demon, and Mana gained through Life Tap also restores the demon's Mana.
You heal your pet for 8% of all spell damage you deal. When you gain Mana from Life Tap, your summoned demon gains 50% of the Mana you gain.
You heal your pet for 15% of all spell damage you deal. When you gain Mana from Life Tap, your summoned demon gains 100% of the Mana you gain.
Searing Pain brands an enemy for empowered pet attacks while generating less threat for the Warlock.
Your Searing Pain generates 17% less threat and brands the target for 10 sec. Your pet's next 2 attacks against the target generate high threat and deal 65 to 68 Fire or Shadow damage based on the pet.
Your Searing Pain generates 33% less threat and brands the target for 10 sec. Your pet's next 4 attacks against the target generate high threat and deal 65 to 68 Fire or Shadow damage based on the pet.
Your Searing Pain generates 50% less threat and brands the target for 10 sec. Your pet's next 6 attacks against the target generate high threat and deal 65 to 68 Fire or Shadow damage based on the pet.
Shares part of incoming damage with an active demon and increases damage dealt by both partners.
20% of base mana | 100 yd range | Instant
When active, 30% of all damage taken by the caster is taken by your Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Incubus, or Felhunter Demon instead. In addition, both the Demon and the master will inflict 3% more damage. Lasts as long as the Demon is active.
Source-reported prerequisite: Demonic Sacrifice. Required rank: unknown.
Ranged damage · Direct casts and Fire–Shadow links
Destruction gives direct attacks several ways to support one another. The current tree rewards reading the conditions around Immolate and the cross-school bonuses before choosing an attack sequence.
Requires your Immolate on the target and normally consumes it for a direct Fire hit.
100 Mana | 30 yd range | Instant | 10 sec cooldown
Ignites a target that is already afflicted by your Immolate spell, dealing 88 to 110 Fire damage and consuming your Immolate effect.
Conflagrate empowers Shadow damage and Shadowburn empowers Fire damage. Higher ranks also improve Immolate preservation and Soul Shard refunds.
Hitting an enemy with Conflagrate increases all Shadow damage you deal by 2% for 20 sec, and hitting an enemy with Shadowburn increases all Fire damage you deal by 2% for 20 sec. In addition, Conflagrate has a 20% chance not to consume Immolate, and Shadowburn has a 20% chance to instantly refund a Soul Shard.

Deals additional Fire damage when the target is already affected by Immolate.
205 Mana | 30 yd range | 2.5 sec cast
Deals 99 to 113 Fire damage to your target and an additional 25% damage if the target is afflicted by Immolate.

Beta talent snapshot
Affliction builds relationships between effects already on the target. Soul Siphon strengthens Drain Life, Drain Soul, and Wrack according to your other Affliction effects, while Wrack improves your other Shadow damage over time. Nightfall can turn damage from several spells into an instant Shadow Bolt. The resulting decision is about setup, remaining duration, and the time available to benefit from them.
Demonology adds reasons to pay close attention to your summoned demon. Demonic Energies links your damage and Life Tap to the pet's recovery, Demonic Brand changes what the pet's next attacks do, and Soul Link shares incoming damage. The pet remains a participant in the plan.
Destruction offers direct damage supported by interactions between Fire and Shadow. Immolate supports Incinerate and enables Conflagrate, while Shadow and Flame lets Conflagrate and Shadowburn empower the opposite school.

BETA / REVIEWED SEPTEMBER 23, 2026
The opening beta supports characters through level 20. Blizzard plans to raise the cap to 30 later in testing, so a full tree preview includes talents beyond the opening playable range. [6]
Create Firestone ranks 3 and 4 omit the conjured item portion of the tooltip; Blizzard promises a correction in the next beta build.
Issue update: [5]Warlock pet mana, health scaling, hit, expertise, and some character-sheet scaling information are not fully displayed.
Issue update: [5]EXPLORE YOUR BUILD
Browse all 52 talents and 149 rank descriptions across the three trees. Inspect talent icons and pop-up descriptions, add or remove experimental points, and save or share a plan.
The planner uses an editable point budget. Required prerequisite ranks, tier requirements, level-by-level point rules, and Legacy interactions remain unverified, so a saved plan is an experiment to revisit as the beta develops.
